historic home sweet honky tonk that rocks!!
built in 1949, pioneertown was the setting for countless cowboy movies. pappy and harriet's has been the home of great live music for years. but it really took on a new life when owners robyn celia and linda krantz took over. now they've got a 'cutting edge' open mic, called the reality show, hosted by yours truly, every monday night, a great local hillbilly band, shadow mountan every saturday evening and the sunday event known in these parts as 'church', with the thrift store all stars, whose members include victoria williams, bingo, tim easton and other local notables. the food is still great for the cowboy and biker clienetele, but now includes some lighter and vegetarian fare for the new bohemians in the area. the back patio is a perfect place for star-watching. the music never stops thursday through monday night, with a great variety of alt country, old timey, and the occasional next big thing, as presented by kcrw...there is life in the desert!!!
