Brilliant presentation of important information
Recently I stumbled purely by accident upon a video on YouTube called "Thomas Edison Hates Cats." It was an episode of something called "The Pinky Show" (www.pinkyshow.org or www.youtube.com/user/pinkyshow).

Now I'm hooked. I love The Pinky Show. Using very simple animation and a disarmingly innocent and curious main character with a charming voice, the show poses straightforward questions that too often go unasked in mainstream media, like "Is the was in Iraq legal or illegal?", then investigates those questions and presents the results of those investigations in a concise, clear, and dispassionate manner.

The presentation is brilliant in its simplicity. Pinky has a healthy curiosity about a variety of topics--from little known historical facts to international law, corporate globalization, and international banking. Pinky says, "All I want is to be able to understand things."

As Pinky comes to understand these things, she helps educate all of us. The show is an effective teaching tool that some teachers are beginning to use in the classroom.

Episodes range from just over a minute up to 40 minutes in length. Pinky sometimes interviews guest experts on the topics she investigates, sort of an animated, feline version of Amy Goodman, with questions just as incisive.

As far as I can tell, The Pinky Show is a small, independent operation dependent on viewer support, so check it out, and consider helping Pinky out if you like what you see. - , posted 08/25/07
