Dave,
I also haven't read this book but I did look up the site where it comes from...from the following blurb there is plenty to comment on...

"Effects of Recreational Drugs on Spiritual Development
A booklet of 40 pages describing very concisely the consequences for the souls who indulge in the illusion of addictions, especially the ones of the drug culture.

Adama explains very clearly and concisely the spiritual pitfalls and long-term consequences for those allowing themselves to indulge in the consciousness of addictions, especially the recreational drug culture such as marijuana and other similar types of recreational and mind altering substances. This message is direct and unequivocal about the consequences that will have to be faced for those choosing to remain trapped in the illusion and deceits of this delusory consciousness."

The book may be grand from a certain point of view but there are other points of view which this blurb makes clear the author has no interest in.

The blurb makes it clear that all use of drugs is "addictive" that all altered states caused by drugs are "illusory" not ever mentioning the very "illusory" nature of reality.

It also associates all use as recreational when it can also be very shamanic.

And finally the text uses the word "unequivocal" which basically means "you can't argue with this point of view."

So all we can do is point out that this approach sends up red flags for a lot of us.

If you want to point out great things about this book, you may still get the same kind of responses you got here but you'll need to go to greater lengths to not only point out why anyone should be interested in the book than "hey I like this" but also face the fact that there are many people on tribe with very advanced paths of spiritual growth and they will react to something that claims that it is the only way... and that channeling a civilization which is a very real EXPERIENCE (which can have real value) is the same thing as a REAL PROOF that it actually existed let alone that it is the only right way.

PS. In response to your response... nothing here I said says that drugs are the best or highest way anywhere... I just said they can have value in many contexts... and the highest way is not always the best way for everyone. I totally agree with you that a major problem with any external trigger is that people confuse the trigger with the state and then often chase the trigger. Humans are addictive by nature, but not to everything all the time... so often these things are done in NON addictive patterns as well.
Finally in the way you talk about - the out there quality of your path - being THE REAL truth - I suggest you to re-member that real truth is a pattern seen everywhere in all contexts and not from just one path, story or POV. There may be a lot of "T"ruth in your path but the framework, the window dressing, and the characters, have far less to do with truth than the patterns, relationships and context.
Much love

getting it straight
Shamanic use of drugs is still taking something outside of yourself to bring you to a place that can and should be reached within.. It takes more courage to go within than anything..

I'm not saying that this is the only way to live but it is the only way to get to the highest level of being.

There are rungs on the latter to enlightenment and if you think shrooms, peyote, or weed can ever get you close to where you really want to go, you are mistaken. They are a possible step on the ladder of enlightenment. Maybe to let you know that there is something out there, but much to often, even by very spiritual shaman that I know, they are crippling because of the thought that they are needed in order to go to these realms. In fact lots of people get caught staying at this level, and forget that the goal is to attain enlightenment, which I assure you drugs, even ones that are so called "medicine", will never get you where you need to be..They baffle you with bullshit and are nowhere near the realms of light and love. Those that think they are having a glorious spiritual experience while in a haze are mistaking the astral plane for the higher levels of the light.
I have had what I thought were amazing spiritual awakenings while on mushrooms or Dmt but now realize I was wrong..
Of course truth is different for everyone so each to his own. Something to consider before you take your next hit.....

And as for this site being "out there", you'd be surprised at the truth when you saw it..The TRUTH is stranger than all fiction and fantasy put together...This is amazing I know, but very, very true....

And in response to your Ps. (I wish we could post again?) --- Thank you for what you said!
I have been thinking about the point of view thing a lot lately and have been thinking that no matter if the book is totally true in my world someone elses world may have another avenue to get to the same conclusion.
The reason I feel so strongly about the book is because of a massive healing that took place do to it..It was a miracle.... - oncewaslost , posted 03/27/07

ummm...
I'll admit I haven't read this book, but just look at the subject of some of the author's other books:

"Timely and fascinating messages from the people of the ancient civilization of Lemuria, living in the fifth dimensional city of Telos, situated beneath Mount Shasta, CA. They are the survivors of the lost continent of Mu, who perished beneath of waves of the Pacific Ocean over 12,000 years ago."

WHAT!?! wowee! Sounds totally fruit loopy. I would not take advice about recreational drugs, spiritual matters, or anything else, from someone who claims existence of fifth dimensional cities underneath mountains. (Yes, I am being judgmental, I am feeling cranky today)
