Cheap movers, acceptable service
These guys packed up all my stuff in SF and brought it to LA for not much more than it would have cost me to buy packing materials, rent a truck, fill it with gas, and bribe my friends to do the work. They did some odd things like wrapping up a virtually unbreakable wood box in loads of protective paper before boxing it in cardboard, but then taking a paper lamp and just throwing it loose in the truck, so it was pretty badly smashed by the time it got here. I wouldn't recommend them if you've got a lot of expensive, delicate stuff, but if you just need to get the basics from point A to point B, I'd say they're a good way to go. The movers were deemed very professional by the friend who met them for me in SF, and were friendly when they got to me in LA.
Their pre-move customer service could use a little help. Several requests never produced a faxed quote after it had been revised with my final moving information (though I'd had no problem getting faxes from them while I was still in SF), I was provided with a contact email address that no one ever seems to check, and the woman on the phone seemed unaware that my belongings had already been picked up in SF when I called the next day to find out when to expect them in LA. Somehow, though, everything seems to have made it here.
Thanks to the fellow Tribester who recommended them to me!
