Worst experience ever...
I had been ordering from Pro Sound for over 4 years (without incident) when I decided to order a pair of KRK 8 inch studio monitors. The price was decent, but I had to pay a bunch for shipping (FEDEX). The first speaker arrived 4 days before the second one, which was annoying, but also since I had never seen the speakers before, I also didn't realize that the trim was a bit off on the first speaker until the second one got there. When it did, the first one stated making a weird rattle sound on the inside when driven with hard bass (but not over-driven). I called Pro Sound and repackaged the speaker carefully and sent it back to them. Two weeks later (without recieving a call from them) I got my speaker back. Excitedly I opened the package to get out my fixed speaker. What I saw shocked me. The woofer of the speaker was actually HANGING OUT of the cabinet... with wires all over the place. The wood looked like someone took a jackhammer to it. The knobs on the back did not turn smoothly. The speaker was DESTROYED.
I couldn't believe what I saw so I called Pro Sound immediately. I told them something must have happened to the speaker on the way to my house because it was totally broken. They told me that's how they got it and that I must have tried to take the speaker apart and fix it myself. I told them that was ridiculous because they have a 45 day guarantee, so why the hell would I try to fix it myself? I talked to the supervisor and she asked me if I had pictures and then told me that she did. I told her I needed those speakers for my work and she laughed at me. (I believe her name was Christine) She was completely rude and unprofessional the whole time. I told her I had ordered many times from them and she told me she only saw one order, I said my name is difficult to spell and sometimes they get it wrong so it might be on different names and she wouldn't even bother to check. After bugging her every day for two weeks she agreed to send my speaker to KRK and pay for the repairs (instead of just sending me a new $250 speaker) but she couldn't tell me when I would have it back. This was already over 4 weeks after I had ordered them... I said that wasn't good enough and that I would take it up with FedEx. I filed a claim with FedEx and after more than a month they called me and told me they couldn't process the claim because Prosound would not "cooperate" with them. Eventually I fixed the speaker myself, and it's far from the "new" speaker I bought. Buy from Musicians Friend (I got a Technics 1200 from them NO tax and NO shipping in 4 days!!!) or Sweetwater... say NO to Prosound. Their sales reps are nice, but the supervisors are absolutely horrid. - Jan , posted 02/18/07
