Mountain Stream Meditation Center supports Buddhist Meditation in the Northern California Sierra Foothills area. We have been active since 1986. We support a number of weekly sitting groups in many communities, and we hold a number of daylongs and longer retreats each year. We publish and distribute our newsletter, Dharma Stream, twice yearly to over 2,500 individuals. Our mission is to serve as a center for the Buddhist community in the Northern California Sierra Foothills area. Mountain Stream was founded by John M. Travis. John has been a student of vipassana meditation since 1969. His work and teaching have been important to the growth and development of Buddhism in the Northern Sierra Nevada region.
