Though I am in Texas and this gallery is in Pasadena, CA, just visiting their website can be that extra inspiration an artist needs sometimes to remember that part of your soul and your unique self-expression. I think they say it better than I can. Here is a blurb from their website regarding their current show: "The EVERYWHERE SHOW is a celebration of artists leaving their mark on all media everywhere. The new generation of fine artists whose voice comes from Popular Culture and uses their new language to find small human truths about our generation through their art. Many came from commercial art, like Warhol, learning to become Master Visual Message Makers, eventually rejecting the confines of compromise in message." I personally have to appreciate anyones choice not to compromise when it would be easier to go with the crowd and when I feel that pressure I look for people, places or things like this to remind myself that it is better to express who I am than to become a clone. - precious , posted 07/23/05 |
