Java Djembe, a high energy West African drum and dance troupe. The brainchild of LTCC instructor Liz Broscoe, performs traditional West African rhythms at the Lake Tahoe Community College Theatre, South Lake Tahoe, CA.
In 2006, Broscoe, the creator of Drumchik Productions, facilitated drumming and dance workshops to more than 8,500 children throughout California and Nevada. Her work in bringing cultural awareness and education to the schools was grant funded by the Nevada Arts Council and the Tahoe Arts Project.
Her new show, "Durga, Goddess of the Drum" recently premiered at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City, Nev., and her high energy drum and dance troupe "Java Djembe" continues to wow audiences.
